REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 2002

According to Dell'Oro Group, during 2Q02 Worldwide Multiservice WAN Switch Market revenues declined 6% sequentially to $639 M. Sales performance was mixed among the different vendors and shipments varied among the technologies and port speeds. Despite the overall revenue decline, port shipments of products that convert TDM Circuit Switch voice traffic to packet traffic (i.e., Voice and ATM OC-3 ports) grew by 4% Q/Q. Multiservice WAN Switches are increasingly being used as gateways to connect the Circuit Switch network with the IP network. Nortel's products in particular have been well received.
