New Legal-Specific Fax Server Streamlines Document Messaging
by Emphasizing Speed, Reliability and Centralized Routing
Omtool, Ltd. (NASDAQ: OMTL), a leading provider of law office document messaging applications for more than a decade, today announced the launch of Genifax(TM) Legal Edition, an enterprise fax server built specifically for the unique requirements of law firms. Genifax LE incorporates many years of experience integrating with and extending the existing business processes and applications commonly used at law firms. Omtool's newest product provides significant advantages in the areas of security, processing speed, redundancy, integration and centralized routing.
Introduced at today's LawNet 2002 conference in Boca Raton, Florida, Genifax LE is designed to fit easily into existing communication infrastructures and integrate with industry-leading document management, time and billing and contact management systems to enable secure document faxing in a method that is as simple as exchanging e-mail. Genifax LE also enables automatic retrieval and validation of client matter data, facilitating the accurate billing of charges to clients. Additionally, the product includes many new administrative advantages, such as highly flexible deployment options and centralized control and management of the fax infrastructure for firms with multiple offices. Common platforms, systems and applications that can functionally integrate with Genifax LE include Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes, iManage, DOCS Open, Elite and CMS OPEN.
"Fax remains a mission critical document delivery method for law firms because of its familiarity, ease-of-use and verification of delivery when sending final format, signed documents," said Thaddeus Bouchard, Omtool's chief technology officer. "However, traditional paper-based faxing through standalone machines can be costly, inefficient and difficult to manage. Genifax LE brings faxing capabilities to the desktop in a way that fits seamlessly into existing enterprise workflows. Genifax also gives administrators a degree of flexibility not possible from either standalone machines or other computer-based faxing systems that are not built explicitly for the legal market."
Genifax Legal Edition is an extension of Omtool's Genifax product, which is natively built on Microsoft's newest operating system and development technologies, including SQL-based messaging architecture. Many of the core features of Genifax Legal Edition revolve around increased administrative flexibility and scalability, such as automation, fault tolerance and multiple server and clustering configurations. Genifax LE achieves a significant advance in functionality while retaining familiar interfaces for inbound receipt and outbound delivery and convenience options such as customized cover pages and Web-based fax retrieval.
