Symantec Experts Examine Malicious Security Threats and Peer-to-Peer Networking at WebSec 2002

Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq:SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that Tim Mather and Stephen Trilling will lead sessions at the WebSec 2002 Conference at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, August 19-21, 2002.

Trilling, senior director, Symantec Research Labs, will present "Battling Malicious Software" as part of the Tools and Techniques track from 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. on August 20, 2002. During this session, Trilling will discuss the major types of malicious security threats affecting computers today, as well as the new threats expected in the future. Trilling will also outline what organizations can do to best protect themselves from current and potential threats.

Mather, director of information security at Symantec, will present "Peer-to-Peer Web Services: How to Try and Secure Your Enterprise" as part of the E-Business Security track from 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. on August 21, 2002. Mather will discuss the types and models of peer-to-peer networking; the challenges posed by peer-to-peer networking; and the implications peer-to-peer networking has on network architecture.

Now in its 7th year, WebSec 2002 is a highly technical conference that features industry experts who deliver real-world solutions to the most pressing e-security challenges. Expert speakers will discuss myriad security issues including securing Web browsers, Internet connections and wireless devices; and protecting systems from war dialing, malicious code and hacker attacks.
