As vice president of business development, Norman will spearhead the U.S. deployment of the i-BURST system by promoting market trials and forging alliances with carriers and equipment manufacturers. The i-BURST system creates a carrier-grade, wide-area wireless data network that provides the freedom of mobility, low-cost infrastructure, and transmission speeds similar to a typical wired home broadband DSL line. It is distinct and complementary to traditional 2G and emerging 3G systems as well as short-range wireless local area 802.11 (WiFi) networks.
"Alan brings an unparalleled combination of business and product development knowledge to our management team, along with a proven track record of establishing new alliances and promoting new technologies," said Nitin J. Shah, chief strategy officer of ArrayComm. "Our team is on a trajectory to achieve some tremendous wins in the United States, and Alan's skills and experience come at a perfect time."
Prior to joining ArrayComm, Norman served as vice president of Corporate Development at Internap Network Services, Inc., and as representative director of Internap Japan, a joint venture between Internap Network Services and NTT. At Internap, he led strategic development and partnering activities, and he directed the company's international expansion in Japan and Europe. Previous to his post at Internap, Norman served as vice president and general manager of New Business Development at Etak, a subsidiary of Sony Corporation and News Corporation. For Etak, Norman developed the wireless cellular and paging strategy targeting automotive and consumer electronics companies in the United States, Europe and Japan.
Norman holds both a Master's degree in business and a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematical sciences from Stanford University.
