FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 21, 2002
Solutions Targeted for Law Enforcement, Homeland Defense,
Security and Emergency Response
Xybernaut(R) Corporation (NASDAQ:XYBR) and Tactical Survey Group, Inc. (TSG) today announced completion of a co-marketing agreement.
Under terms of the agreement, the companies have already begun to integrate Xybernaut wearable computers with TSG applications for targeted industry segments that need detailed data related to physical assets such as buildings/facilities -- notably security, law enforcement, military/government, homeland defense and emergency response.
The integrated mobile/wearable solutions provide operators fast access to critical data related to buildings and other facilities.
This information could include blueprints, structural traits, communications/networking/electrical schematics, locations of fire suppressant equipment or locations of valuable assets.
Examples of applications include security, safety audits or emergency response preparedness for government or commercial installations (military facilities, corporate campuses, public-use facilities, power plants, banks, hospitals, schools, etc.).
Xybernaut Mobile Assistant(R) V (MA(R) V) mobile/wearable computers configured with TSG software are already being demonstrated to several customers, including local/regional law enforcement, federal/civilian government agencies and military units. Under the relationship, TSG will provide integration and testing of equipment at joint customer sites and first-line software support.
The first step in preparing a deployment of the joint Xybernaut/TSG solution involves conducting Tactical Survey(TM) -- a comprehensive audit -- of a physical facility. This Tactical Survey creates a virtual overview of the physical characteristics of a facility that will be essential to first responders during emergency situations.
Information collected during the Tactical Survey is then stored on a mobile device on a hard drive, CD-ROM or stored on a secure Web site. Regardless of the storage medium, emergency response information can be accessed by pointing and clicking on hyperlinked site maps or images -- just like a standard web site.
The integration with Xybernaut wearable computers allows all types of Tactical Survey data to be accessed and controlled by operators in the field. This combined solution can be easily integrated with an existing physical security infrastructure or enable a standalone, quickly deployed system at any location. Xybernaut provides a PC-equivalent wearable computer, small enough to be worn on a belt clip, that gives operators full access and control of necessary data, while enabling hands-free mobility.
"Xybernaut wearable computing technologies are a tremendous enhancement to our facility security capabilities," said Steven Larsen, president and CEO of TSG. "Xybernaut wearable computers give decision makers access to data with even greater timeliness and mobility. Our combined technologies allow user/operators to access critical data while they are in the field -- bringing greater levels of effectiveness and efficiency to their operations."
"TSG software and Xybernaut devices together are a natural fit for a variety of security, law enforcement, military and commercial facility management applications," said Edward G. Newman, chairman, president and CEO Xybernaut. "Xybernaut has a strong heritage of success in intelligence and military applications. Our technologies are compatible and complementary, so customers of either company will receive tremendous value by integrating both company's products into their information technology architecture."
