IONA CTO Eric Newcomer to Deliver Web Services Integration Keynote; Speakers and Demonstrations to Highlight Web Services Ease of
Interoperability and Developer Benefits
IONA(R), the leading e-Business Platform provider for Web Services Integration (NASDAQ:IONA), today announced its participation at the upcoming XML Web Services One Conference, to be held August 26-30, 2002 at the Seaport Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts.
IONA's activities at the XML Web Services One Conference will be highlighted by IONA's Chief Technology Officer Eric Newcomer's keynote address on Thursday, August 29th titled: "Web Services: Integration Technology for the 21st Century." In addition, IONA will be a participant in the SIGS 101 and Xmethods.net Interoperability Demonstration to show business integration supported by Web services. Attendees to the conference should also visit IONA's booth (#660) to join the IONA Dream Warrior Challenge, as well as enter for a chance to win tickets to see the "Rolling Stones(TM)" at Gillette Stadium(TM) on Thursday, September 5, 2002.
The SIGS 101 and Xmethods.net Interoperability Demonstration simulates a real world business-to-business purchasing scenario, including customer, warehouse, supplier, and banking roles, and is implemented with WSDL, SOAP, and UDDI. IONA's XMLBus.com will host Interoperability Demonstration endpoints.
Conference attendees will have the opportunity to join the more than 7,000 developers engaged in the IONA Dream Warrior Challenge (http://portals.devx.com/dreamwarrior/Door/6209) hosted by DevX, Inc. The contest, which began in March 2002, is the ideal online destination for developers who want to educate themselves on Web services, get their hands on free IONA developer tools and tutorials, and start building, consuming, and exposing Web services while earning points towards cash and vacation prizes. Developers should visit IONA's booth (#660) to register for the Dream Warrior Challenge and receive a free developer's license of IONA's Orbix E2A XMLBus Edition. Corporate sponsors of the IONA Dream Warrior Challenge include IONA partners Sun Microsystems as the Platinum sponsor, and Intel and Hewlett-Packard as Gold sponsors.
"The XML Web Services One Conference is a great forum for IONA to showcase our commitment to Web services education and the development of Web services technology," said Eric Newcomer, CTO of IONA. "The IONA Dream Warrior Challenge is now the largest community of Web services developers in the world, thanks largely to conferences like XML Web Services One that foster the exchange of ideas and technologies to drive the rapid maturation of Web services."
