Opsware Inc. (Nasdaq:OPSW), formerly Loudcloud Inc., the leading provider of IT automation software for server and application management, today announced that former SEC general counsel Simon M. Lorne has joined the Opsware Inc. Board of Directors. Lorne joins Opsware Inc.'s current board, which consists of Intuit Inc.'s Chairman Bill Campbell, Benchmark Capital's Andy Rachleff, Michael Ovitz, Opsware Inc.'s CEO Ben Horowitz, and Opsware Inc.'s Chairman Marc Andreessen.

Lorne, a partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP since 1999 (as well as prior to 1993) is widely regarded as an expert in corporate governance. From 1993 though 1996, Lorne served as General Counsel of the SEC, during which time he assisted Congress in drafting the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995. Following his tenure at the SEC, Lorne was a Managing Director at Salomon Brothers, where he served as global head of Internal Audit of that firm and of its parent corporation, Salomon Inc. Following the 1997 merger of Salomon Inc. into Travelers Group Inc. (and of Salomon Brothers into Salomon Smith Barney), he continued as a Managing Director and as a senior member of the General Counsel's office. After the 1998 merger of Travelers Group Inc. with Citicorp to form Citigroup Inc., he organized and coordinated the global compliance function of Citigroup, which embraced the securities, banking and insurance activities of that entity.

"I am excited to be joining the Opsware Inc. board and helping build the company into a successful software company," said Lorne. "The expertise of both the management team and the current board of directors is considerable and I am pleased to have the opportunity to help shape the direction of the company going forward."

"We are thrilled to have Sy join our board and look forward to benefiting from his wealth of experience and knowledge as we build Opsware Inc. and chart our course for the future," said Ben Horowitz, CEO and president of Opsware Inc.
