NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 26, 2002
At Connect 2002, PeopleSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT) today announced Project Portfolio Management and ESA Warehouse, two new solutions in its industry-leading Enterprise Service Automation (ESA) suite. With Project Portfolio Management, organizations can evaluate, monitor and compare key performance information on new and existing projects. ESA Warehouse consolidates data from multiple sources for accurate reporting, analysis and insight into operating costs. As a result, companies can choose the projects with the highest projected return on investment (ROI) and manage them to successful completion.
"Companies that adopt project portfolio management tools and techniques for their internal IT departments have the potential to save hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars each year," said Ted Kempf, principal analyst at Gartner. "By marrying real-time business intelligence and analytics with transaction systems, project portfolio management solutions help companies make smarter investment decisions."

As an example, more than 70 percent of corporations believe that they do not effectively tie IT project investments to their business strategy, according to a Mainstay Partners study. PeopleSoft Project Portfolio Management has been designed to enable managers to evaluate and prioritize initiatives based on internal goals and predefined metrics such as cost, risk and ROI. Portfolio maps, scorecards, and reports will enable users to visually analyze and compare projects, and isolate individual projects to drill down into underlying data and reports.

Today's finance organizations are dependent upon multiple sources of information and unstructured data to gain insight into operating costs. PeopleSoft ESA Warehouse is a single source for reporting, analysis, and insight into these costs, and provides complete project visibility. The only data warehouse solution designed specifically for service operations, ESA Warehouse addresses the needs of both enterprise project offices and professional service organizations.
"Project and services costs can account for more than 50 percent of a company's spend," said Renee Lorton, senior vice president and general manager of PeopleSoft Financial Management Solutions. "PeopleSoft Project Portfolio Management and ESA Warehouse will arm our customers with sophisticated new weapons in the fight against uncontrolled expenditures on services and projects."
PeopleSoft launched its ESA suite of solutions at Connect 2001. Today, more than 200 companies have selected or deployed PeopleSoft's award-winning ESA solution, including Sun Microsystems, Siemens Medical Systems, BEA Systems and the Texas Education Agency.
Project Portfolio Management and ESA Warehouse will be available in the fourth quarter.
