CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 26, 2002
Four USFreightways Companies (www.usfc.com) were recently awarded the readers choice "Quest for Quality" award from Logistics Management and Distribution Report magazine, a trade journal that covers the transportation industry. This is the first year USF Bestway Inc. has received the honor since the mid-90's, joining three other USF companies -- USF Holland Inc., USF Reddaway Inc. and USF Worldwide Inc. -- which have received the award for a consecutive 17, 12 and two years, respectively. The "Quest for Quality" award is announced annually and is voted on by customers who choose the freight carriers they believe provided the best service throughout the year. Results of the study appear in the August issue of the publication.
"Under President Gary Beggs' leadership, USF Bestway has continued to evolve into the premier provider of LTL (less-than-truckload) transportation services throughout the Pacific Southwest," said Samuel Skinner, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of USFreightways Corporation. "We are extremely proud that they have now joined three of our other companies as a recipient of this esteemed award," Mr. Skinner added.
"At USF Reddaway we know that service is key, and I want to acknowledge Ed Fitzgerald, our Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, and our staff for helping to ensure that we meet and exceed our customers' expectations," said Jared J. McArthur, President of USFreightways Western Carrier Group and President & Chief Executive Officer of USF Reddaway. "Our customers are always our main concern, and when they tell us that we are giving them the kind of service they expect, it is very satisfying. We in turn respond by striving even harder to ensure that they know they can always expect that same quality from us in every aspect of their shipping needs." USF Reddaway has received several awards over the last few months, including the California Trucking Association Board of Directors Grand Trophy, for having California's safest fleet among carriers over $10 million gross revenue.
"It's especially gratifying to be presented with an award such as this," said Pete Neydon, President, Eastern Carrier Group of USFreightways Corporation and President, USF Holland. "What makes this recognition so meaningful is that it comes directly from our customers. It reassures us that we are continuing to meet or exceed their expectations in the quality and performance of our carriers." USF Holland has also been the recipient of several awards over the last two months, including a first place award for safety from the Michigan Trucking Association and an "Excellent Supplier" award from TTX, an owner and operator of a pool of freight cars for the rail industry.
"All the employees of USF Worldwide are pleased that our customers have acknowledged the quality of our product," said John Gallahan, President and Chief Executive Officer of USF Worldwide. "To receive this type of recognition two years running reflects our commitment to long-term excellence and the attention we pay to the smallest details."
USF Bestway Inc., USF Holland Inc., USF Reddaway Inc., and USF Worldwide Inc. are subsidiaries of USFreightways Corporation (NASDAQ:USFC).
