Non-Profit Employs Centra's Virtual Meeting
Capabilities to Deliver Education Programs to
Administrators of 300 Community-Based Organizations
Centra (NASDAQ: CTRA), the leading provider of integrated software solutions for real-time business communication and collaboration, today announced that it has joined forces with Technology For All (TFA), a national non-profit organization that brings technology to underserved communities, to give low-income communities access to job training and collaboration over the Web. TFA will use the virtual meeting capabilities of the CentraOne(TM) Web collaboration platform to provide administrators in 300 community-based organizations across the U.S. with the knowledge, resources, and technology training they need to build strong, local workforce development programs.
Leveraging the integrated voice-over-IP capabilities, application sharing, and dynamic interaction tools of the Centra eMeeting(TM) application, TFA will connect 15-20 onsite organization administrators in weekly online sessions to interact, learn, and receive help in becoming skilled trainers and enablers of opportunity in their communities.
"Centra has allowed us to scale our resources through real-time, interactive Web communications to reach low-income populations that don't have the same level of access to job training, educational, or economic opportunities that other communities have," said William S. Reed, President and CEO of Technology For All. "We are grateful for the technology and support Centra has provided in helping TFA expand its program nationwide."
Scaleable Software Solution for Enterprise Collaboration
Used by more than 900 companies, government agencies, and universities worldwide, Centra's scaleable software solutions are based on CentraOne, an open and extensible Web collaboration platform. Leveraging the core capabilities of CentraOne, Centra offers a suite of compatible, real-time Web collaboration applications, content composition tools, and knowledge delivery systems that can be quickly installed on-site using Centra's rapid deployment methodology, or conveniently accessed through Centra's secure, full-service ASP. The applications supported by CentraOne - including interactive Web meetings, virtual classrooms, and large-scale conferences - ensure universal access to users through firewalls and proxy servers, and deliver full-performance IP audio conferencing, streaming video, application sharing, and dynamic multimedia over low-bandwidth network connections through a standard browser interface.
"During these challenging economic times, marked by rising unemployment and fiscal conservatism of local and state governments, we are pleased to be able to support the important mission of TFA in our nation's communities," said Tony Mark, Centra's President and COO. "The use of Centra's technology by organizations such as TFA, the International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care, the eGetgoing online dependency program, and other social programs demonstrate the powerful effect that Web collaboration technology can have on matters of human welfare - creating new opportunities, strengthening relationships, and providing unlimited, instant access to experts and resources anytime, anywhere."
