DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 27, 2002
i2 Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ITWO), the leading provider of value chain management solutions, and Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ), a leading global provider of computing and imaging solutions and services, today announced that Legend Group Limited (Legend), has gone live with i2 Supply Chain Management (SCM) solutions. Legend is the leading information technology company in China. The company designs, manufactures and distributes computers and provides Internet services and content.
"We anticipate this implementation will enable our company to streamline costs and enhance customer satisfaction while allowing us to shorten production lead times and control inventories," said Qiao Song, senior vice president of Legend. "i2 and HP put together an exceptional team to lead this project. Given the complexity of an implementation this size, the team's industry knowledge, proven implementation methodology and extensive experience in SCM was critical to enable smooth deployment."
Legend is China's leading PC manufacturer and will utilize approximately 10 modules of i2 SCM to run on Legend Sure range of servers, powered by the Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processor family. The deployment marked the completion of the first stage of Legend's business transformation project.
"Legend is one of the leading PC manufacturers in China and we anticipate that this implementation will contribute to their long-term success and competitive advantage. By deploying world-class supply chain management solutions, companies can potentially improve their operational effectiveness and gain a competitive edge in the global arena by achieving faster time-to-market," said Eliza Kwok, managing director of i2 China. "At i2, we believe in working as partners and focus on delivering bottom-line value to our customers. i2 SCM is designed to enable companies such as Legend to improve business processes across multiple enterprises in the extended value chain."
This project is the first complete SCM suite implemented for any i2 customer in China and represents the first collaboration between Hewlett Packard and i2 in the region. i2's solutions are designed to provide the capability to communicate online with suppliers and forecast demand across Legend's factories across 30 provinces. Legend reports it also benefits from factory planning and scheduling on a daily basis.
"The success of this project is definitely attributed to the collaborative effort in designing and testing this solution with Intel, i2, HP and Legend implementation teams," said Ian Yang, general manager of Intel (China) Ltd. "Bringing the design and performance characteristics of Intel-based servers to i2 solutions can enable companies such as Legend to plan in real-time, resulting in effective control of inventory and increased throughput in factories."
"China's entrance into the World Trade Organization (WTO) has resulted in enterprises such as Legend seeking new ways to streamline their business processes within the Internet economy in order to compete on a global level," said Philip Chua, General Manager of Manufacturing Industries Business Unit, HP Asia Pacific. "Deployment of these solutions will potentially enable Legend to capitalize on opportunities in the global PC market by providing a synchronized supply chain that allows it to shorten its business cycle, reduce inventories and increase efficiencies."
