JP Morgenthal to Examine XML Standards and the Underlying
Technologies that Compromise the Semantic Web
Software AG, Inc., a pioneer in XML technologies, announced today that key executives and industry veterans, William Ruh and JP Morgenthal, will be among XML and Web services experts speaking at this year's XML Web Services One Conference, held in Boston, Massachusetts (August 26 - 30).
Software AG's participation in the event includes a series of presentations, Web services demonstrations and partner activity, culminating Thursday, August 28 with a keynote presentation by Ruh, Software AG, Inc.'s Senior Vice President, Professional Services, on Web services as an alternative to traditional enterprise application integration.
"We really have not seen the benefit of EAI and proprietary messaging. With XML and Web services, we have the first set of standards that will help us lower costs of these projects and integrate back-end and Internet and desktop systems in ways we could not imagine before," said Ruh. "We spend 50% of our time in systems and application development in transforming information to display, store and integrate. Having a single format, such as XML and Web services, is critical to saving time and is a much faster means of application development."
Software AG customer, Dr. Timothy Chester, Senior IT Manager of Texas A&M University, will also be presenting at the conference. Chester's presentation, "SOAP and Web Services for Enterprise System Developers" will provide strategies for Web services and will also discuss his real-world implementations of Web services, which include Software AG products.
Software AG presentations at the conference include:
XML Standards - A Management Overview Tuesday, August 27 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
In this session, JP Morgenthal, Chief Services Architect, Software AG, Inc., will speak to IT or line-of-business managers on how the family of XML standards are constantly evolving and growing. This presentation will be broken up into three sections focusing on the impact of XML on the enterprise, XML for integration and XML for communications.
Using the Semantic Web for Electronic Business Registries Wednesday, August 28 9:45 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
In this session designed for developers and technical managers, JP Morgenthal, Chief Services Architect, Software AG, Inc. will examine the underlying technologies that compromise the semantic Web, such as DAML OIL, WebOntologies, and RDF and further explore how these technologies in tandem with existing Web protocols could be used to create a common electronic business registry that can suit multiple business needs.
Keynote: Is EAI Dead? Long live Web Services! Thursday, August 29 3:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.
In this keynote, William Ruh, Senior Vice President, Professional Services, Software AG, Inc., will take a look at Web services as the up-and-coming, cost-effective alternative to traditional enterprise application integration. Software AG's wrapper technology, XML messaging, UDDI and native XML storage provide all of the components to deploy Web services today. Corporations can deploy existing mainframe applications to the Web quickly and cost effectively. For live demonstrations, visit the Software AG booth #566 at the XML Web Services One Conference.
