FREIBURG, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 2002
- Interactive Objects releases the world's first security
product for Model Driven Architecture (MDA). The
MDA-Security(TM) Cartridge plugs into the ArcStyler(R), the
leading Architectural IDE for MDA. The Cartridge enables
development teams to design comprehensive security policies at
the level of platform-independent UML models. The entire
infrastructure is generated automatically from these models.
This unique, fully MDA-compliant approach dramatically
simplifies the implementation of verified, high-quality
standard security schemes for e-government and e-business
applications while drastically reducing complexity and cost.
MDA-Security(TM) was designed to solve one of the most urgent problems in distributed and Web systems: the issue of security. Security is often neglected in the coherent engineering of such applications, and appropriate features are frequently added in an ad-hoc manner, causing security problems and extraordinary costs.
One of the advantages of the ArcStyler's approach to Model Driven Architecture (MDA) is that models can be used to derive and automatically generate other models and their target infrastructure. Security is a typical area where the full potential of the MDA approach becomes readily visible. The ArcStyler(R) MDA-Security Cartridge captures the extremely rare and valuable skills of security experts and makes them easily usable by persons who need to deliver secure systems but who do not have years to invest in becoming security experts. This works in a way similar to the other architectural skills packaged by the ArcStyler: High-level UML models are flexibly enhanced and configured with verified security features based on SecureUML(TM), a well-formed modeling style especially developed to augment system and application models with precise security schemes. From these models, ArcStyler generates complete high-quality infrastructure for diverse environments such as J2EE/EJB, Web Services, .NET(a).
Says Richard Hubert, Interactive Objects' CEO: "This approach clearly exhibits the power of an Architectural IDE to remove major problems at their source. An organization can now assure that well-engineered security schemes are used consistently across all systems, reducing the cost and risk of effective security by orders of magnitude."
