BOISE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 2002
Idaho Information Consortium Receives Approval to Run
Idaho's Official Government Web Site for Another Two Years
The State of Idaho has extended the contract for Idaho Information Consortium to manage the state's eGovernment Web portal through December 2004. A wholly owned subsidiary of eGovernment firm NIC (Nasdaq:EGOV), Idaho Information Consortium built and has managed Access Idaho (www.accessidaho.org) since its launch in December 1999.
"There is no doubt that Access Idaho is making it easier for citizens and public agencies to interact," said Jan Cox, Acting Director of the Idaho Department of Administration. "The portal works with state agencies to help them examine their work processes and to conduct business online. It is making a broader array of government services available 24 hours a day and seven days a week."
The two-year contract extension was approved by the Access Idaho Steering Committee and the Division of Purchasing on August 2, 2002. The seven-member committee, comprised of state government officials and the Access Idaho general manager, oversees the Web portal's eGovernment operations. The committee also reviews individual agency licensing agreements with Idaho Information Consortium, sets policies, and approves new portal services.
According to Bill Farnsworth, Access Idaho Steering Committee Chairman, more than 25 interactive applications and over 20 state agency Web sites have been developed during the last three years. Constituents can now file their taxes, renew professional licenses, order motor carrier permits, search for a corporation, and register for the attorney general's No Call List online, he explained.
"We value our partnership in Idaho, and we look forward to aggressively expanding Access Idaho's online services during the next two years," said Jeff Fraser, Chief Executive Officer of NIC.
