BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 2002
Click2learn (Nasdaq:CLKS) today announced that the Bama Companies, producers of bakery products for some of the world's largest restaurant chains, has selected the ToolBook(TM) Instructor(TM) desktop authoring solution to create e-learning content for the company's two training institutes.
Both the Bama Technical Training Institute (BTTI) and the Bama Institute will utilize ToolBook Instructor to develop an individual curriculum of Web-based courses that employees will be able to access either at work or remotely. Web-based learning will enable BTTI, which offers training to the company's maintenance technicians at three facilities in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to provide the same training content to its employees company-wide. This is part of Bama's Total Preventative Maintenance initiative, which calls for all employees to be able to maintain the equipment on which they work in good operating condition. In addition, BTTI will offer certification training to its maintenance technicians, enabling them to advance their pay grades. Initial implementation of BTTI's Web-based training is planned for January of 2003.
"Our CEO, Paula Marshall Chapman, was adamant that all training at Bama move to an online learning environment to facilitate access to training regardless of time or place," said Daniel Anquetil, Training Manager for BTTI. "After an intensive review of companies offering content solutions, we believed that the ToolBook Instructor features, such as its course creation and Web publishing wizards, its `what- you-see-is-what-you-get' interface and its customizable templates, would allow us to almost intuitively create the content we need to move Bama training to that next level."
In a second initiative, also scheduled to launch in January of 2003, The Bama Institute will utilize Instructor to create additional training for the company's management and professional level employees. Bama Institute courses will cover a variety of topics related to strategic issues in human resources including workplace safety and non-discrimination and harassment policies.
"While companies such as Bama may not have the programming expertise for complex content development, their need to create and deliver effective Web-based training remains mission- critical," said Kevin Oakes, chairman and CEO of Click2learn. "ToolBook Instructor provides these organizations with the tools they need -- without requiring complex programming skills -- to improve the capabilities of their entire workforce as their organization continues to expand and mature."
ToolBook Instructor is a comprehensive desktop authoring solution designed for course developers and instructional designers who want to create standards-based content. Instructor allows organizations to easily create highly interactive content with a catalog of smart objects, including assessment and simulation support. More information on ToolBook, as well as a trial demo, can be found at http://home.click2learn.com/en/toolbook/toolbool_instructor.asp.
