Operational Efficiency
FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading provider of network storage infrastructure software, today announced an agreement with Shanghai Telecom to collaborate on providing high data availability, quick disaster recovery, and highly efficient and reliable storage services to customers of Shanghai Telecom Internet Data Center (IDC).
Shanghai Telecom IDC is an international A-level IDC directly affiliated with China Telecom. It is also one of the first Internet data centers to provide technical value-added services in China. After a wide range of strict examinations and comparisons, the IDC of Shanghai Telecom selected FalconStor's IPStor. Shanghai Telecom IDC will leverage the deployment of IPStor both internally, as a vital element in Shanghai Telecom IDC's business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives, and externally, providing its IDC customers with enterprise-class storage services, resource management, failover services, and storage space leasing to ensure high availability and data optimization.
"After repeated investigations, we finally choose the open-architecture network storage infrastructure solution of FalconStor because its IPStor solution excels in open-architecture performance and high data availability," said Mr. He Jun, Chief Technical Officer of the IDC of Shanghai Telecom. "Running on such a network storage infrastructure, the storage service of our IDC will be able to leverage its storage capabilities to the maximum extent, and provide enterprise customers with assured secure data storage services. At the same time, it will significantly lower the service cost and expand the range of our service, and thus help enterprises to have the maximum return on their investment."
Shanghai Telecom's IDC provides an array of services including facility management, server co-location, virtual hosting services, value-added services and high-capacity bandwidth connectivity. The IDC will embrace IPStor as a key part of its enterprise-class family of storage offerings and will leverage IPStor's high performance, key-based security, aggregation and provisioning of storage, and IP connectivity to deliver mission-critical storage management services to its existing customers.
