NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 6, 2002
New York Times Digital, the digital business unit of The New York Times Company, and Google, developer of the award-winning Google search engine, today announced that Google's targeted Web search results and sponsored links will be integrated into NYTimes.com and Boston.com search results.
Available now on NYTimes.com, Google's search technology will be accessible to Boston.com users in the fall.
When a user conducts a search on NYTimes.com, a page of article results is generated with links to current and archived articles. Google's Web-wide search results will appear below these NYTimes.com links, providing NYTimes.com users with access to the most relevant search results from billions of Web pages. Google's sponsored links will also appear, to help users find related products and services.
"This agreement represents a partnership among three of the highest quality brands on the Web," said Catherine Levene, vice president of strategy and business development for New York Times Digital. "Our users at NYTimes.com now have access to the historical resources available in the New York Times archives, supplemented by relevant Web search results and sponsored links from Google. Boston.com users will also share these benefits later this year."
"NYTimes.com's quality audience of knowledge seekers now have access to the world's best search experience," said Omid Kordestani, Google's senior vice president of worldwide sales and field operations. "Google's comprehensive collection of more than two billion Web pages enables users to quickly find the information they need."
