They said it couldn't be done but Archos has done it again. Archos latest and coolest entry into handheld electronics is literally theatre in the palm.
The Archos Jukebox Multimedia 20 synthesizes the latest in electronics, computer and entertainment technology into a single, multimedia theatre that weighs a hair over 10 ounces.
"It's the coolest product yet because there's nothing else like it," said Gilda Eldridge, Archos U.S. marketing director. "There's enough room in the Jukebox Multimedia to store up to 40 hours of video, an entire CD collection or a lifetime of travel pix for the seasoned traveler," Eldridge said. "It's unbelievable. The future has arrived."
The Archos Jukebox Multimedia 20 is at once a handheld entertainment center combining an MP3 music player, recorder, built-in microphone, photo album, carousel, camcorder, video player and recorder in a single unit measuring less than 5 inches in its largest dimension. At RetailVision Spring 2002, Archos Technology's new Multimedia product was nominated for Best Product: Hardware and Best New Technology.
The system's base unit provides an MP3 Player, a photo and video viewing capability, and a 20-GB hard drive that can hold up to 5,000 MP3 songs, 200,000 photos in VGA, and up to 40 hours of video. It can also serve as a backup 20 GB hard drive for personal data. "It's hot," Eldridge said.
Archos will offer the Jukebox Multimedia 20 base unit for an MSRP of $399.95. Archos will also offer a Photo Bundle, which includes the Base unit plus the Photo Module, which downloads images from CompactFlash cards or SmartMedia to the hard drive for viewing on the color LCD or on any TV, for an MSRP of $419.95. The Photo Module is available separately for an MSRP of $49.95.
In addition, a Camera Module, which turns the unit into a digital camera, will be available in September.
