PADERBORN, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 11, 2002
Following the successful launch of their server-based Content Security Filtering products for Web and E-mail, including WebWasher(R) Enterprise Edition and WebWasher(R) Protected Gateway, webwasher.com now presents a new version of its Internet filter for the desktop: "WebWasher(R) Classic" automatically positions itself between browser and Internet and also runs on Windows XP as well as with the AOL Internet access software.
Thanks to the "configuration-free" option, the new version, which has been long-awaited by the five million WebWasher home users as well as AOL users, can be installed extremely easily onto the PC and even used by browsers which do not allow the configuration of a proxy server. WebWasher Classic is available free-of-charge for home users, schools and public institutions and can be downloaded under www.webwasher.com.
WebWasher Classic filters unwanted advertising banners, pop-ups, animations, JavaScripts and Java applets as well as cookies, referers and Web bugs from Web sites. This leads to reduced loading times for Web sites and savings in network bandwidth of up to 45 percent. Additionally, WebWasher Classic protects the user's privacy. The new version runs as a client or as a proxy server in a local network on Windows 95/98/ME/XP and NT 4.0/2000. WebWasher Classic is available for commercial use at a price of 29 Euro.
The corporate history of webwasher.com began with WebWasher for the desktop.
