NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 12, 2002
The holiday season is the time to give back, according to the developers of a new type of anti-virus software for PCs.
"If anyone has ever given a computer virus to you, we have the perfect gift to give so they don't ever do it again...it's virus-locking software named ViraLock(TM)," said Marcus Whittington, head of marketing for the company.
"Not only will this keep your friend or e-mail buddy from ever giving you a virus again, it's a fun gift. It encrypts addresses in your e-mail programs while you watch and actually hides them from viruses.
"If a virus enters a ViraLock-protected computer looking to e-mail itself out, tough luck. It won't be mailing itself to you or using your e-mail addresses again," said Whittington.
The software was developed by SentryBay Corp., a New Zealand company and is pure Kiwi ingenuity. Unlike current anti-virus software that tries to block viruses from coming in, ViraLock traps viruses that sneak through the user's defenses. ViraLock stops mass-mailing viruses like Klez and Bugbear as well as new, unidentified viruses. Released for individual PC and laptop users who use Microsoft Outlook(TM) and Outlook Express(TM), ViraLock can be downloaded at www.viralock.com for $19.95.
The software is compatible with and complementary to major anti-virus software products including Norton AntiVirus(TM) and McAfee VirusScan(TM) and does not require regular updating to be effective. "It's the missing half of the anti-virus solution," said Whittington.
System Requirements and Availability
ViraLock is available for purchase and download through the ViraLock Web site: www.viralock.com. ViraLock is priced at $19.95 for a single user-license with discounts available for volume licensing and academic institutions. A free 30-day trial version can also be downloaded.
ViraLock works with Microsoft Windows 98, Me, NT, 2000 and XP operating systems. It is compatible and complementary to popular anti-virus software and e-mail programs, currently including Microsoft Outlook(TM) and Outlook Express.
SentryBay Corp. is an anti-virus software development company located in Auckland, New Zealand, and Newport Beach.
