HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 16, 2002
InfoWorld Media Group, the provider of in-depth analysis of enterprise technology and strategies through its integrated online, print, research and events channels, announced the "25 Most Influential CTOs"-- an exemplary group of IT executives whose innovative efforts continue to generate success despite a challenging economic landscape. TruSecure(R) CTO Dr. Peter Tippett is selected as one of the year's prominent IT executives that represent the most innovative, visionary and results-driven IT executives.
"This is a great honor, and I'm thrilled to be recognized by InfoWorld as one of the 25 Most Influential CTOs. It's gratifying to know that challenging the status quo still has a place in pushing forth technological innovation," said Peter Tippett, CTO, TruSecure Corporation. "Many organizations still feel the need to put in place costly, inefficient, reactive information security programs, and I feel very strongly that these ineffective practices must be contested. Proactive risk mitigation has proven time and time again to be the approach for lower total cost of security."
Peter Tippett is a well-known leader in information security. He specializes in utilizing large-scale risk models and research to create pragmatic, corporate-wide security, saving organizations billions of dollars annually by analyzing and forecasting security risks. Dr. Tippett studied under two different Nobel Prize laureates at Rockefeller University and has both an MD and a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University. He is widely credited with creating the first commercial anti-virus product, which later became the Norton Anti-virus. Tippett has briefed and consulted with Congress, the Senate, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and numerous large and medium-sized organizations and governments on practical approaches to computer security.
The InfoWorld 25 Most Influential CTOs recognize IT executives who represent diverse industries. From the auto and travel industries to security services and the U.S. federal government, these executives have helped their companies generate revenue, introduced strategic innovation, streamlined processes and infrastructure, and wield influence both inside and outside their organizations. InfoWorld celebrates the achievements of these CTOs and profiles Dr. Tippett along with other honorees in the December 9th issue.
