CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 16, 2002

UDDI registry allows clients to subscribe and automatically

receive notification of any changes to relevant Web services

Systinet, a leading provider of Web services infrastructure software, today announced the general release of WASP UDDI Version 4.5, a secure, platform-independent UDDI (Universal Description, Discovery and Integration) registry service designed for private use within an enterprise or between trusted parties. WASP (Web Applications and Services Platform) UDDI is fully compliant with the V2 UDDI standard, and also offers new and unique support for the UDDI V3 subscription API.

A major drawback of the current UDDI V2 specification is that it offers no mechanism for alerting subscribers to changes to the registry. Users often need to receive notifications whenever there is a change in the registry entry for a given service or business, or receive notifications when new services are added based on predetermined criteria. The new draft V3 includes a subscription API that addresses this deficiency, and WASP UDDI 4.5 is the first product to support the subscription API.

"Systinet was the first company to offer a V2 compliant UDDI registry, and now we're leading the way by offering V3 subscription support," said Charlie Ungashick, senior director of product marketing, Systinet. "Over the last few months we've seen an increase in demand for UDDI as customers begin to deploy multiple Web services and need a mechanism for organizing, advertising and discovering them. WASP UDDI's security functionality and integration with both development tools and the Web services runtimes makes it ideal for this kind of private deployment."

What's New in WASP UDDI Version 4.5

-- Support for UDDI V3 Subscription API

Systinet is the first to support both asynchronous and synchronous UDDI subscriptions, as specified in the UDDI V3 standard. WASP UDDI also supports all best practices defined by the uddi.org consortium.

-- Full Implementation of UDDI V2 Errata

UDDI V2 Errata contains several enhancements to the V2 specification, including a new Data Structure API.

-- Unique Support for tModel Deletion

A tModel is a description component used in WSDL (Web Services Description Language). Until now, deletion of a tModel was prohibited by UDDI. WASP UDDI has a unique mechanism that allows deletion of tModels where there are no dependencies.

-- Improved Usability

The latest release includes a new management console with support for more users and UDDI entities. Systinet has also all best practices defined by the uddi.org consortium.

Systinet WASP UDDI is part of the WASP product suite, which includes WASP Developer (which supports popular IDEs including Borland JBuilder, NetBeans, Sun ONE Studio, Eclipse and IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer), WASP Server for Java, and WASP Server for C .

Availability for WASP UDDI Version 4.5

WASP UDDI Version 4.5 is available immediately. WASP UDDI is free for development and testing; pricing for deployment begins at $10,000 per CPU.
