SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 19, 2002
Fairchild Semiconductor International (NYSE:FCS) announces the FAN7005, a stereo headphone amplifier ideal for use in personal computers, PDAs and MP3 players.
The FAN7005 is a dual, fully differential power amplifier that features ultra-low current consumption of less than 2.2mA and 0.1mA, respectively, in normal and shutdown operation for the overall supply voltage range.
The FAN7005 provides excellent THD (total harmonic distortion) and PSRR (power supply rejection ratio, less than 50dB, typical) characteristics to guarantee high output performance in portable audio applications. For example, when the FAN7005 delivers 200mW of continuous RMS power into an 8ohm speaker at 5V supply, it produces less than 0.3% of THD N (total harmonic distortion plus noise). In addition, the amplifier's integrated AQC (adaptive Q-current control) circuit dramatically decreases crossover distortion even when consuming low quiescent current. The FAN7005 also includes de-pop circuitry, which eliminates noise caused by transients that can occur during turn-on and turn-off.
Other benefits of the FAN7005 include internal thermal shutdown protection, unity gain stability and stability under no load condition. The FAN7005 is well suited for portable audio systems and other hand-held products requiring a low part count solution because additional snubber circuits and bootstrap capacitors are not needed. The FAN7005 is available in either a space-saving 8-pin mini SOP or SOP package. The FAN7005 adds to a growing family of products targeted toward portable applications. These products range from high performance DC/DC converters for CPU and system power in notebook PC applications to high frequency, space efficient switching regulators, supervisory ICs, motor ICs and micro power LDOs for applications such as PDAs and CD/MP3 players.
