SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 2002
IDT(TM) (Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; Nasdaq:IDTI), a leading communications IC company, today announced that its 128Kx72 (256Kx36) full-ternary network search engine has been named one of the EDN Top 100 Products for 2002. In the special report published in the December 12, 2002 issue, EDN praised the IDT device for "performing as many as 100 million database look-ups/sec" and supporting "searches as wide as 576 bits." Each year, EDN's editors look for the products that garnered the most enthusiasm amongst their readers when determining the Top 100 list.
"When developing this network search engine, our goal was to enable fast time to volume with high-quality devices and tools, while delivering customer-required performance, densities and features," said Chris Schott, vice president of the IDT IP co-processor division. "Being recognized by EDN's editorial staff shows that one of the industry's leading technical publications shares our belief that this device has the potential to revolutionize network search engine devices in systems for wireless, enterprise and carrier-class networks."
Other highlighted features of the IDT network search engine family include: Dynamic Database Management(TM) that improves system performance and significantly lowers power consumption when compared to alternative solutions, and the unique reissue feature, which eliminates extraneous clock cycles during multiple database searches to allow up to 576-bit wide sustained searches at maximum device speed.
IDT IP Co-Processor Solutions
IDT is the leading provider of network search engines and classification and content inspection processors that accelerate packet processing and enable intelligent application management in next generation networking equipment. IDT is recognized by RHK, Inc. and IDC as the technology leader, and as the volume shipment leader of network search engines. Based on the integration of content addressable memory (CAM) and high-performance logic, the IDT NSEs support NPUs and ASICs to accelerate packet classification and forwarding in core, metro and access networks. IDT offers the industry's highest-performing NSE and was the first vendor to introduce search widths up to 576 bits. The IDT NSE portfolio includes custom versions for Cisco Systems, as well as devices with general-purpose and glue-less interfaces to network processors.
The IDT classification and content inspection processors are capable of parsing and classifying data up to Layer 7, a functionality that, when coupled with the NSEs, allows for inspection of content in both the packet header and payload, resulting in more intelligent packet processing at wire speed. IDT is an active NPF member and contributor to NPF and the LA interface definition and serves as chairman of the board. More information about the NPF can be found at www.npforum.org.
