HAYWARD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 3, 2002
AvantGo, Inc. (Nasdaq:AVGO), the leading provider of mobile enterprise software, today announced that Holt CATERPILLAR (Holt CAT) has adopted AvantGo Pylon Pro(TM) 5.0 to extend the company's Lotus Notes personal information management (PIM) and custom database applications to handheld devices, giving employees instant, up-to-date information while in the field or away from the office.
Working with Ellucre, a technology integrator and Pylon reseller, Holt CAT has deployed AvantGo Pylon Pro software throughout its organization, enabling workers to access their e-mail, calendar, address book, memos and tasks, and other Lotus Notes PIM data from their handheld device either wirelessly or via desktop synchronization. By providing its employees with real-time, mobile access to these critical business applications, Holt CAT employees are able to react faster and more accurately, and make better-informed decisions while away from their desk. With the AvantGo and Ellucre solution, Holt CAT has increased worker efficiency, productivity and overall job effectiveness.
"Providing our employees with the most up-to-date information is a must, whether they're in the field, at their desk or working remotely," stated Thomas Murray, CIO of Holt CAT. "As more and more business continues to be conducted over the Internet and through email, supporting mobility across the organization means that we can respond to customers as quickly as possible in order to close deals and drive customer retention and satisfaction. By providing employees with mobile access to their Lotus Notes applications, they are able to answer emails, retrieve phone numbers and view calendars regardless of where they are, resulting in improved efficiency and productivity. Bottom line, more deals are closed and more money made when employees can quickly and accurately respond to customers."
Using AvantGo Pylon businesses can instantly mobilize their mission-critical Notes applications and databases, as well as PIM and e-mail data using a desktop or a server-based solution that supports multiple device types and does not require additional programming. In addition, AvantGo Pylon provides both wireless and offline access to Lotus applications.
"By extending access to important applications, companies are able to dramatically increase employee productivity while they are out of the office," said David Pratt, AvantGo's CEO. "Email continues to be one of the most critical business applications in today's market. With AvantGo Pylon, companies can provide remote access to not only email, but to PIM and Lotus Notes applications, providing their employees with a distinct competitive advantage. AvantGo Pylon products are easy to deploy and require minimal IT maintenance making a solid solution for any company - large or small."
