    HONG KONG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 3, 2002--

Onse Improves Core IP Network with Cisco 12000 Series Internet
Routers and Cisco Metro Ethernet Switching Solutions

Cisco Systems, Inc., has completed the supply of its technology
for Onse Telecom Co., Ltd. Onse is using its end-to-end Cisco
solutions to enhance the performance of its backbone network as well
as to provision a new metro Ethernet service. Onse is one of leading
telcos in Korea and provides long-distance and international call
services, IDC services, and cable broadcasting services.
Onse Telecom selected Cisco products including the Cisco 12016,
and 12008 Internet routers, and the Cisco Catalyst(R) 6509 and 4006
switches. It introduced the metro Ethernet service in early August
targeting Internet cafes around the country. The first phase of
deployment was completed in 12 areas across the country as of October,
and the metro Ethernet service has already begun operations.
"We chose Cisco because of its unparalleled excellence in the
industry, proven service and support system, diverse reference sites,
and abundant customer experience. In addition, Cisco end to end
networking solutions allows us to prepare for future migration and
enhancements," said Mr. Kim, Seung-Ki, director of development and
planning at Onse.
Mr. Kim added: "Onse Telecom is unlike the established
telecommunications services providers that are engaged in multiple
businesses. As a new entrant, we have developed a stable business
structure designed and focused only on Internet service and ease of
service response, and this has enabled Onse to grow its subscriber
base. We launched this new initiative to improve the quality of
services provided in response to the rise in the number of
subscribers."
"The challenge for new players in any market has always been how
to differentiate yourself from existing companies," said Andrew
Murray, vice president, service provider operations, Asia Pacific,
Cisco Systems. "In the telecommunications space, Onse is showing how
new value-added IP services such as metro Ethernet can be used as a
strong differentiator. This of course has to be backed by a strong
customer service mindset and competitive pricing. Both Cisco and Onse
share a strong focus on the customer and this is one way to succeed in
today's marketplace."
