Design Continuum, an international design and development firm, today announced that Gianfranco Zaccai, the company's co-founder, president and CEO, is embarking on a global speaking tour where he will present at several design conferences from December, 2002, through February, 2003. Zaccai will speak on several topics including "Creating an Enabling Environment for Design and Innovation" at the following four conferences:

International Conference for Universal Design

Zaccai lectured and chaired a session entitled "Universal Design for the Home" at the International Conference for Universal Design on Monday, December 2nd, in Yokahama, Japan. This international conference, which takes place through December 4th, focuses on Universal Design, a concept for designing products and life space including equipment and architecture, with the goal of making them accessible to every person. CCI-NID Design Summit 2002

On December 4th, Zaccai will deliver a presentation entitled "Creating an Enabling Environment for Design and Innovation: Treasures at the Bottom of the Pyramid" at The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) - National Institute of Design (NID) Design Summit 2002 taking place at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, India. This second annual Design Summit will bring together the Who's Who of India's businesses, R&D centers and design houses for the purpose of sharing experiences and ideas. ICSID South East Asia Pacific Regional Conference

Zaccai will present on the topic of designing for the bottom of the pyramid at the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID) South East Asia Pacific Regional Meeting taking place December 5, 2002, in Ahmedabad, India. The theme of the conference is "Design Connects: Creating & Accessing Better Quality of Life." This forum will bring together design institutes, designers, design thinkers, and industry in the South East Asia Pacific region to discuss issues relating to technology, information, communication and convergence and their impact on providing access to better quality of life through well designed products and services. DESIGN 2005

Zaccai will deliver the keynote address at the DESIGN 2005 conference, which will take place on February 13, 2003, in Helsinki, Finland. This conference will present the research projects funded by the DESIGN 2005 program launched early in 2002 with the intention of making industrial design an important part of international competitiveness for Finnish companies. The aim is to raise the standard of design research and make use of design expertise in corporate product development and business strategy and to develop the services provided by design firms. The program forms part of the government resolution on design policy dated June 15, 2000, and will be sponsored by Tekes, participating companies, research institutions and other organizations.
