ViewDirect Meets Rigorous Criteria for Electronic Records

Management Software

Mobius Management Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: MOBI), a leading provider of software for total content management (TCM), today announced that Mobius ViewDirect(R) has been tested and certified by the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) as being compliant with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) 5015.2 standard for a Records Management Application (RMA).

ViewDirect solutions have been implemented by over 1,300 organizations worldwide including many government agencies such as the United States Army, United States Navy, DISA, Department of the Interior and the United States Postal Service. The 5015.2 Design Criteria Standard for Electronic Records Management Software has also been adopted by other government agencies, universities and corporations. Further details of the ViewDirect 5015.2 certification can be found at: http://jitc.fhu.disa.mil/recmgt/mobius/index.html .

ViewDirect and its records management application, RMS Direct, are components of ViewDirect TCM, an integrated suite of total content management solutions. Leveraging its integrated, high-volume, high-performance content repository, ViewDirect TCM provides a wide range of content-intensive applications. RMS Direct was designed to satisfy the rigorous requirements and test specifications of the Department of Defense 5015.2 standard while integrating with the ViewDirect TCM suite. It provides an immediate archiving facility for full life-cycle management of electronic and non-electronic records. Records, documents and desktop files can be indexed and archived interactively on an as-needed basis. RMS Direct utilizes ViewDirect's powerful EnterpriseIndex(TM) feature, which links records across platforms, storage media and record types based on common attributes.

Additional features of RMS Direct include:

-- Lifecycle management. Each record can be assigned its own lifecycle with dispositions from archive through multiple phases including transferring or accessioning to other organizations.

-- Customized views. RMS Direct's flexible design allows each user to access the same information with personalized views -- saving time and keystrokes and making users more efficient.

-- Powerful advanced searching. Powerful search tools allow users to search based on record meta-data, category or folder meta-data, or user-defined criteria. Using full query capability such as grouping and Boolean logic, users can narrow searches to retrieve only the needed records. Complex queries can be saved for future use when the same search is performed many times.

"Organizations are producing an increasing amount of non-application-generated, electronic content including end-user-created documents such as e-mail, spreadsheets, and word-processing files, as well as non-electronic records such as paper-based records, disaster recovery media, and inventory materials," said Joe LaFountaine, Mobius product manager. "RMS Direct is fully integrated with the ViewDirect TCM repository, which provides a significant advantage over records management solutions that use disparate repositories. These enterprise assets can now be easily located, accessed and managed in compliance with the 5015.2 standard and also integrated with a wide range of other enterprise content."

About Department of Defense 5015.2 Standard

The 5015.2 standard was developed by the Department of Defense as the set of basic requirements that recordkeeping systems must meet to be used by the military. It specifies 118 criteria ranging from how records must be created to how they may be destroyed and includes security requirements, accessing characteristics, meta-data requirements and similar criteria. The standard is used by other government organizations in selection and implementation of recordkeeping systems. It is a widely accepted benchmark within the U.S. and is being adopted as a guideline for recordkeeping standards and policies throughout the world.
