LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 1, 2002

The standard in cost-effective presentation cameras has been raised with the introduction of the Visualizer RE-450X from Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc. (NYSE: CAJ).

Building on the reputation set by Canon's previous model, the new Visualizer RE-450X lets users take advantage of the many benefits of its predecessor, and more, including direct output to a Multimedia LCD Projector. These latest features support Canon's Presentation Products Initiative, a concept that promotes the benefits of "connecting" digital camcorders and presentation cameras to LCD projectors to enhance visual imagery and maximize presentation impact and message retention.

The Visualizer RE-450X also allows business users, educators, lawyers, medical personnel and other presenters to temporarily capture an image in memory with the unique Freeze Frame Memory feature, while a White Paper Preset automatically enhances white paper documents with black type for improved clarity. A Paper-Type Preset feature is also included, for superior image quality. Other outstanding features include XGA quality resolution, a 1/3 inch 850,000-pixel progressive scan CCD, a 12X power zoom lens, S-Video and VGA output, and the superior optical quality users have come to expect from Canon.

Designed with the same oversized, unobstructed base, first engineered by Canon, the RE-450X makes it easy to view oversized documents, books, chromes, or 3-D objects. A built-in color corrected light box allows the user to present images from OHP transparencies and film, increasing the versatility, while fold down arms add to the mobility of the unit.

"Capturing high quality images with the Canon Visualizer RE-450X is essential to supporting any presentation. The Canon Visualizer RE-450X provides superior color reproduction that can be output and viewed in a number of ways," says Yukiaki Hashimoto, vice president and general manager, Photographic Products Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "This is one more example of how Canon is engineering affordable quality that supports user requirements."

The Canon Visualizer RE-450X will be available in March 2002 at authorized Canon dealers, with a suggested list price $2495.

Features Of The Canon Visualizer RE-450X

High Resolution, XGA Images: The Visualizer RE-450X features a 1/3-inch, 850,000-pixel progressive scan CCD, and XGA (15fps) high-resolution image quality which can be output directly to an LCD projector or video monitor. A 12X-power zoom incorporating a 10 element, 8-group design allows users to capture and present small details easily, while a unique Freeze Frame Memory feature allows images to temporarily be stored in internal memory.

Superior Color Enhancements: The Visualizer RE-450X provides superior color reproduction, with easy-access color adjustment controls located conveniently on the front panel. Automatic image adjustment is performed with AF, AE, and AWB so that the image displayed is always crisp and clear. White paper enhancement features (White Paper Preset) and pre-sets for various paper types support image clarity.

Dual Lighting Systems: A pair of adjustable arms and 6-watt high intensity florescent lights brightly and uniformly light documents and 3-D objects. A cold-cathode tube back light is built in for OHP transparencies and film.
