Software and Hardware Solution Delivers Robust Security to Iomedex

Healthcare Customer Westsound Community Health Network

Sun Microsystems, Chrysalis-ITS and Iomedex today announced that an integrated software and hardware digital certificate solution from Sun and Chrysalis-ITS has been deployed by Iomedex to provide secure Certificate Authority services to Westsound Community Health Network, Bremerton, WA. Chrysalis-ITS' Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) and Sun's iPlanet(TM) Certificate Management System are combined to provide a comprehensive certificate infrastructure with hardware based protection for encryption keys, so that healthcare security service provider, Iomedex, can deliver a trusted means of authentication and digital signatures to its customers.

Westsound Health has securely networked 37 clinics around Harrison Memorial Hospital. The authenticated physicians and medical staff, using their Iomedex digital certificates, sign on to the network with their secure digital signature. This allows them remote access to critical patient information from their clinics and homes. Westsound has also connected one of the states largest HMO's through this network and is continuing to provide other health care organizations and their staff with secure, remote access to critical information.
