Security Gateway Appliance delivers SmartFilter(TM)v3 "on-box" to
enable comprehensive Internet Access Management
CacheFlow(R) Inc. (Nasdaq:CFLO), a leading provider of secure content networking solutions and Secure Computing Corporation (Nasdaq: SCUR) a leading provider of enterprise network access control solutions, today announced they have successfully completed the integration of Secure's SmartFilter(TM) version 3 Web filtering software on the new CacheFlow Security Gateway appliance, also announced today. This new "on-box" solution, which will be marketed by CacheFlow, allows customers to gain control over how corporate users access the Internet, while improving employee productivity, maximizing administrative control, and reducing legal liability.
"When integrating applications, the SmartFilter on-box architecture proves to be the highest performing, most cost-effect, reliable and scalable approach to Web filtering," said Chris Peterson, vice president of global channel and OEM sales at Secure Computing. "The integration of CacheFlow's appliance with the latest version of SmartFilter further demonstrates our commitment to partnering with industry leaders to provide world-class e-business solutions that enterprise customers demand."
Managing User Access to the Web
As an integral part of an enterprise security infrastructure, the CacheFlow Security Gateway applies granular policy to control which users or groups of users can access sites that are categorized in the SmartFilter list. The integrated offering allows organizations to create customized policies based on any combination of attributes including users, groups, protocols, content category, specific URL, file type, browser, media player or network address. The integrated CacheFlow and Secure solution requires no additional hardware for existing customers and is activated with a software-only key.
"CacheFlow's Security Gateway serves as a point of control for enterprise web security and access policy," said Darrell Long, director of product management at CacheFlow. "By integrating our solution with Secure Computing's proven filtering capability, CacheFlow can provide our customers with a market-leading, high-performance solution for managing how and when corporate users access Web content."
Web Filtering with SmartFilter
SmartFilter, the world's first URL filtering software, enables organizations to build and enforce sophisticated Web-usage policies. Users can be denied access to specific Web sites, or coached within their browser session about the organization's acceptable-use standards. SmartFilter's international Control List, updated continuously, categorizes millions of Web sites into selectable groups, including gambling, sex and MP3. Organizations may reduce their legal liability, and can realize an immediate return on investment as a result of increased productivity and recaptured network bandwidth.
CacheFlow's Comprehensive Security Solutions
In related announcements today, CacheFlow also introduced it's strategic initiative for web security, along with a new portfolio of products for protecting, controlling and accelerating web-enabled networks. These new products include the CacheFlow Security Gateway, cIQ(TM) Director, CacheFlow Reporter and CacheFlow Visual Policy Manager. In addition to content filtering, the products enable a comprehensive set of web security applications such as authorization management, content security, virus scanning, web usage monitoring and bandwidth protection.
Pricing and Availability
The new CacheFlow Security Gateway with SmartFilter(TM) v3 will be available in March through CacheFlow and its global network of channel partners. Pricing varies based on model and configuration. Please contact CacheFlow or any authorized partner for additional information.
