Sunshine Network's Public Affairs Division recently recorded exclusive interviews with two of Florida's leading decision-makers for upcoming special editions of the network's series, "Capital Dateline." Both half-hour programs premiere statewide this weekend on Sunshine Network in over 5.5 million Florida homes.
"Capital Dateline: Florida Governor Jeb Bush" and "Capital Dateline: Senate President John McKay" premiere in a special one-hour presentation this Saturday, February 23, at 7:30 am and Sunday, February 24, at 7:30 am. Back-to-back airings of the two specials also air Saturday, March 2, at 7:30 am and Sunday, March 3, at 7:30 am. The Governor's show also repeats on Sunday, February 24, at 5 pm.
During the in-depth interviews, the two leaders discuss their priorities at the midpoint of the legislative session with "Capital Dateline" host Steve Wilkerson.
Governor Bush details his priorities for improving education, especially reading scores, and gives updates on Florida's economy and the state's efforts to protect Florida citizens from terrorism.
In the interview with the Senate President, McKay goes into detail on why he believes there is a need to reform the state sales tax program and also answers critics of the plan.
"We're pleased to be offering Florida residents this opportunity to hear from two of their state's foremost government leaders," said Steve Hull, Sunshine Network's director of public affairs. "It's not often that viewers across Florida are presented with this type of in-depth, one-on-one interview with their elected officials, especially during this critical time in Florida's legislative session. We thank Governor Bush and Senate President McKay for sharing their opinions with our statewide audience."
