NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 21, 2002

Sportvision, Inc., Fox Sports Productions, Inc. and Princeton Video Image, Inc. (NASDAQ: PVII) announced today that they have settled and moved to dismiss their patent litigation regarding virtual insertion technologies.

Sportvision and Fox Sports Productions initiated the lawsuit in Federal Court in California in October 1999, alleging that PVI's virtual signage, first down line, and other products infringed Fox/Sportvision patents. In August 2001, PVI counterclaimed against Sportvision in the Federal Court action, alleging that Sportvision's virtual strike zone and virtual signage products infringed a PVI patent.

The parties have resolved the Federal Court litigation by cross-licensing each other's patents that cover the use of camera instrumentation and image processing for virtual insertion into live video.

As a part of this settlement, PVI has agreed not to request or pursue an interference against the Fox/Sportvision patents.

"Sportvision looks forward to continuing its work as virtual imaging plays a bigger and bigger role in televised sports," said Sportvision CEO Bill Squadron. "Our focus remains on using innovative technology to enhance the experience of sport fans."

PVI co-CEO Roberto Sonabend stated: "I expect that this settlement will accelerate PVI's ability to expand its markets based on our exceptional technology for advertising in sports and entertainment television."

The official case title is Sportvision, Inc. and Fox Sports Productions, Inc. v. Princeton Video Image, Inc., Civil Action No. 99-CV-20998 (N.D. Cal.).
