LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 21, 2002

KaZaA set a record for peer-to-peer (P2P) software with 2,244,608 downloads during the week ending February 17, 2002, taking the number one slot on CNET Download.com's "Most Popular" listing. This makes the KaZaA Media Desktop v1.5 the fastest growing P2P software in Internet history.

KaZaA recently released an enhanced version of its popular Media Desktop, adding features such as a new elective recommendation function that lets users obtain suggestions from other KaZaA users with similar preferences, faster search function, and improved security and privacy.

"We have been overwhelmed by the positive response from users to our new recommendation feature," said Nicola Hemming, CEO. "The fact that the developers have created a way for users to find files from each other that they may never have found otherwise seems to have hit a sweet spot." The KaZaA development team is already working on further enhancements to the Media Desktop that will ensure KaZaA's position as the market leader.

KaZaA.com, which distributes the KaZaA Media Desktop, boasts more visits than ever, with over four million visitors a day. This figure will continue to rise as the base of KaZaA Media Desktop users fast approaches 40 million.
