WHAT: Top music industry professionals discuss the realities of
the music business and available careers in music with
more than 1,500 L.A. area high school students at the
GRAMMY(R) In The Schools (GITS) Careers in Music program.
Panel discussions will be followed by a variety of
workshops addressing various fields in the music industry.
The day will conclude with a performance by the 2002
GRAMMY High School Jazz Ensemble and special guest.

WHY: To encourage careers in the music business, GRAMMY In The
Schools provides high school students an opportunity to
interact with music industry professionals in educational
settings throughout the country. Each student receives the
current edition of the GRAMMY In The Schools Career
Handbook containing interviews with professionals from a
variety of music industry careers, as well as a resource
guide to industry-related Web sites.
The GRAMMY Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing music and arts education across the country and ensuring access to a rich cultural legacy of recorded sound. In partnership with the Recording Academy and its regional offices throughout the country, the Foundation implements an arc of education and preservation programs and services designed to cultivate understanding, appreciation and advancement of music and the arts for all ages.
