NEON Systems and Idera Form Alliance to Accelerate Java Application Development for Mainframe Environments

SUGAR LAND, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 26, 2002
NEON(R) Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:NESY), a leading provider of software to 'Liberate the Mainframe(TM),' today announced it has formed an alliance with Idera(TM), a developer of data management, migration and integration tools to provide increased productivity and reduced development costs for application developers working with mainframe data sources.
The combination of NEON Systems' ShadowConnect technology with Idera's JSync(TM) Solutions Toolbox provides application developers a single tool for visibility into both legacy and distributed systems data sources, resulting in shorter development time for J2EE-compliant enterprise applications that run on major application servers like BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere. In addition, the combined ShadowConnect/JSync solution allows developers to migrate or convert data between most non-relational and relational data sources.
"The combination of NEON's ShadowConnect and Idera's JSync product eases integration of mainframe data and transactional sources into the Java application development process via mutual exploitation of standards such as JDBC and J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA). NEON is pleased to announce this partnership to the Java development community," said Mark Cresswell, NEON Systems vice president, Shadow Division.
"As the product of choice when mainframe access is required, ShadowConnect was the perfect solution for providing mainframe connectivity," said John Mercadante, president, Idera Corporation. "Together, we now provide a solution that allows an IT person, without specialized training, to easily leverage data on any system, legacy or client-server. We are excited about this alliance with NEON Systems, a company that has such distinct credibility with mainframe interoperability. Working together, we are expanding the market place for both companies, opening up mainframe opportunities for Idera and bringing NEON's solutions to a broader range of application developers," added Mercadante.
ShadowConnect JCA adapters allow application developers to create next-generation applications that transparently incorporate OS/390 data and transactions using the new J2EE Connector Architecture application programming interface. The ShadowConnect JCA adapters will allow businesses using JSync direct and transparent access to OS/390 mainframe data, including DB2 and non-relational database formats, VSAM, IMS/DB, ADABAS/Natural, as well as transactions within CICS/TS and IMS/TM - from a single architecture.
