ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 27, 2002
Demonstrating its forward-thinking technology, DGI announced today the release of Palm-GUY(TM), a web clipping application which enables anytime, anywhere access to a IBM DB2(a) Universal Database from a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
Palm-GUY makes DB2 UDB performance information and control pervasively available, a first for the IBM DB2 market. With this breakthrough application, database administrators (DBAs) can monitor, analyze, and swiftly react to DB2 UDB performance issues from anywhere, at any time.
Palm-GUY is a web-enabled, wireless mobile solution designed to work on the wireless Palm VIIx PDA. DBAs now have the freedom to manage DB2 UDB at their convenience. Palm-GUY features many of the same performance management capabilities as DGI's product line, including bufferpool and table performance, tablespace utilization, operating system statistics, SQL analysis, and more. Authorized users now have the ability to force off problem user queries or applications, run operating system commands, create indexes, run utilities, issue GRANT and REVOKE statements, and run almost any SQL statement from their Palm VIIx.
"These days, 24x7 business applications require 24x7 support," said Scott Hayes, president and founder of DGI. "Your business application availability is only as good as your ability to rapidly understand, react to, and resolve performance issues. Palm-GUY is the first to provide DB2 UDB database administrators the opportunity to be in total control of DB2 databases at all times, and to be equipped to provide outstanding 24x7 service agreements."
"Today's e-businesses require not only round-the-clock database availability but tools to flexibly manage their systems from anywhere at any time," said Lauren Flaherty, vice president of marketing, IBM Data Management Solutions. "The availability and manageability characteristics of IBM's DB2 database, coupled with the remote management capabilities of DGI's Palm-GUY, represent an innovative and powerful solution for our customers."
