PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 28, 2002
SAP Portals, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of SAP AG (NYSE:SAP), and Hewlett-Packard Co. (HP) (NYSE:HWP) today announced a global agreement to provide fully integrated and open portal solutions to enterprise customers.
The alliance will combine SAP Portals(TM) enterprise portal and business intelligence solutions with HP technology and consulting services to deliver enterprise portal solutions to companies that want to leverage vital information within and beyond their organizational boundaries for strategic advantage, enhanced business efficiency and increased profitability.
SAP Portals and HP will jointly dedicate engineering resources to port SAP Portals Enterprise Portal(TM) to run on HP-UX 11i. The SAP Portals Enterprise Portal is a complete solution that delivers business value by integrating collaboration, knowledge management and relevant content and by unifying disparate applications, information and services. SAP Portals Enterprise Portal for HP-UX is expected to be available during the third quarter of 2002.
Building on the success of HP's relationship with SAP AG, with more than 10,000 SAP(R) software installations worldwide, HP Services has been named a global consulting and implementation partner for the delivery of all SAP enterprise portal solutions. HP will develop expert resources worldwide to deliver SAP Portals' enterprise portal and business intelligence on HP-UX and HP Netserver infrastructure -- helping customers achieve maximum business value. In addition, HP Services will provide vital support services for SAP Portals solutions.
As part of the agreement, the two companies will further their combined reach in the marketplace and support the creation of innovative technology by establishing customer demo and solution centers. The initial demo center will be located at HP's SAP Portals Competency Center in Walldorf, Germany. The first customer solution center will be located in Grenoble, France. In addition, sales teams and consultants will be cross-trained by both companies, enabling a strong go-to-market initiative.
When AIP, the Portuguese Industrial Association, determined that it needed to provide its association members with an easy-to-use and dynamic catalog Web site that would enable clients to search for information, research and products, the requirements were robust. "The combination of HP's Netservers with SAP Portals solution assured us with its high level of security and an always-on infrastructure that our business requires," said Eng Carvalho Pereira, AIP director and member of the board. "HP also presented us with a very manageable financing offer that made the decision an easy one."
"Building on our alliance strategy, we look to industry leader HP to complement our ability to deliver flexible, scalable, easy-to-administer unified enterprise portal solutions that create measurable value for customers," said Shai Agassi, president and chief executive officer of SAP Portals. "By combining SAP Portals solutions with HP's experience and robust infrastructure, customers will enjoy a highly scalable solution that can be quickly deployed."
"Our alliance with SAP Portals is a natural extension of HP's long-standing relationship with SAP," said Rick Bartlett, general manager of the Relationship Management Solution Organization at HP. "Not only does the alliance give our current customers the ability to implement SAP Portals solutions critical to their businesses, it also enables HP and SAP Portals to jointly provide portals solutions to brand-new customers."
