PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 5, 2002
Development Dimensions International (DDI), a global human resource consulting firm specializing in selection outsourcing, has been awarded a contract to implement a rapid workforce expansion for Biovail Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NYSE:BVF), an emerging pharmaceutical company, that will more than double its sales force over the next six months.
The expansion is being driven by a combination of FDA approvals, as well as other product acquisitions. DDI will be designing a Web-based hiring process to fill 50 district manager positions by the end of first quarter 2002 and up to 550 sales representatives, onboard by the end of second quarter 2002.
"Biovail came to DDI because of its experience in managing the process involved in rapid sales force expansion and our knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry," said Richard S. Wellins, senior vice president of global marketing and business development at DDI. "Our task is to find quality people who will contribute to Biovail's success quickly while giving them a proven, legally-defensible hiring system they will continue to use in the future."
The elements for the sales-representative hiring plan include a sourcing strategy with marketing initiatives designed to drive applicants to a newly developed, Biovail-branded screening section on the firm's Web site. Qualified candidates can automatically schedule themselves for a phone interview with DDI assessors. Final interviews will be conducted by Biovail's district managers using DDI's Targeted Selection(R), the world's leading behavior-based interviewer training. DDI will then help to deliver background checks and an onboarding package, which includes the integration of candidate data with Biovail's human resource information system. Throughout the entire process Biovail employees will have real-time access to all candidate information via DDI's candidate management system, which also catalogues the information for future hiring needs.
"We need a system that, through competency-based assessment, increases quality and speed-to-hire with manager control. DDI was the only vendor with a proven track record of success capable of providing this," said Mike Goolsby, national sales director of Biovail Pharmaceuticals Inc.
