ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 2002
Online transactions now processed automatically,
eliminating redundant data entry and streamlining information flow
Jacada Ltd. (NASDAQ: JCDA) today announced that Lillian Vernon, a leading catalog and online retailer, has successfully utilized the Jacada Interface Server to deliver a fully-integrated e-commerce fulfillment system.
Using Jacada software, Lillian Vernon integrated its back-end legacy computing systems with its front-end e-commerce systems, streamlining information flow and eliminating redundant data entry within the online ordering and product return applications.
"Surprisingly, the vast majority of e-commerce sites still have not successfully integrated their systems internally," states Peter Fausel, President of Jacada Inc. "In fact, according to published reports, less than 20% of web sites have fully integrated their e-commerce sites with their back-end systems."
Lillian Vernon, founder and Chief Executive Officer states, "With Jacada's help, Lillian Vernon is now at the technological forefront of providing the optimum online shopping experience for our customers. With the Jacada software, we have fully integrated our online ordering process. As consumers embrace the Internet in increasing numbers, we believe it is imperative to deliver strategic IT solutions that enable us to provide superior customer service."
To ensure a seamless exchange of data within the online ordering process, Lillian Vernon chose Jacada to provide real-time integration between the back-end iSeries server, which houses the company's core business processing capabilities, and a front-end Internet application developed with IBM's WebSphere Commerce offering. By connecting the Web front-end with the back-end processing system, the Jacada Interface Server eliminates redundant data entry within the company, reduces operational costs, and enables the retailer to process customer orders with greater efficiency.
To streamline the process for product returns, Lillian Vernon again turned to Jacada for a cost-effective, low-risk integration solution. The retailer has contracted with a third-party service provider, to handle the returns process. Lillian Vernon is using the Jacada Interface Server to provide XML integration between the service provider's ReturnValet application and the Lillian Vernon mainframe, which houses the customer returns application. Lillian Vernon is minimizing redundant operational practices internally, reducing costs, and providing superior service by quickly crediting customers who wish to return items.
Vernon adds, "Jacada has allowed our company to eliminate many operational steps and processes. E-commerce is a competitive marketplace that continues to grow rapidly. By strategically leveraging the flexible solution provided by the Jacada Interface Server, we are enhancing the shopping experience and positioning our company for the future. Our website has introduced the Lillian Vernon brand to a new generation of consumers."
