New Minnesota Portal to Give Citizens Self-Service
Access to More than 100 State Agencies
BroadVision, Inc. (Nasdaq:BVSN), the leading provider of enterprise self-service applications, today announced that the State of Minnesota has standardized on BroadVision's suite of enterprise self-service applications for its e-government portal initiatives. The State of Minnesota will use BroadVision(R) InfoExchange Portal(TM) and BroadVision One-To-One(R) Content(TM) to create its next-generation state government portal, designed to connect multiple state agencies and give citizens easier access to Minnesota government services and information.
The new version of Minnesota's "North Star" portal will provide citizens with convenient, self-service access to consolidated information and services from more than 100 state agencies. The major emphasis for the portal is a reorganization of its online data architecture to help users find information more quickly. The new portal will be "citizen-centric" and less "agency-centric." Information delivered by the portal will be organized around themes, such as "Education," "Employment" and "Legislation," rather than by department, making it easier for citizens to carry out common tasks such as online tax filing, permit applications and license renewals.
BroadVision One-To-One personalization technology will also be used to deliver targeted information directly to individual portal users. Registered users will have access to state event calendars and content change notifications that are sent based on their personal user preferences. Other personalized features include a "Featured Links" section that directs users to information related to their search.
The State of Minnesota is one of the first organizations to adopt BroadVision One-To-One Content, BroadVision's intelligent solution for full lifecycle content management. BroadVision One-To-One Content will allow Minnesota state agencies to develop, publish and collaborate on content for the new portal.
"The combination of BroadVision InfoExchange Portal and BroadVision One-To-One Content gives the State of Minnesota a powerful platform for bringing the benefits of enterprise self-service to the citizens of Minnesota," said Chris Grejtak, chief marketing officer for BroadVision.
The new State of Minnesota portal, www.portal.state.mn.us, will be deployed in phases, eventually offering access to more than 100 state government agencies. The first phase, planned for Q1 2002, will introduce the new information architecture and give online access to the concurrently integrated services such as the Inktomi Enterprise Search Software and Content Classification Engine and the Netegrity Site Minder authentication engine provided by partnerships with the Department of Natural Resources, the InterTechnologies Group, and the Office of Technology.
A wide variety of local, state and federal governments -- including the City of Chicago, State of California, US Air Force and US General Services Administration -- use BroadVision software to power their e-government initiatives.
About State of Minnesota

Major industries driving the state's diverse economy include agriculture, tourism, information technology, telecommunications, health care and medical equipment.
