ABX: Judgement Rendered on Homestake-Inmet Troilus Litigation

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 16, 2002
Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:ABX)(TSE:ABX.)(LSE:ABX.)(PARIS:ABX.)(SWISS:ABX.) today confirmed that it has received a copy of a judgement issued by the Supreme Court of British Columbia in which it ruled in favour of Inmet Mining Corporation and against Homestake Canada Inc.
The judgement awards Cdn$88.2 million to Inmet relating to the termination of the agreement by Homestake to purchase the Troilus Mine in 1997.
Barrick Gold Corporation is reviewing the court judgement in relation to pursuing an appeal before the British Columbia Court of Appeal.
