America West tested Altiris solutions in two installation projects in the airline's user environment.

"We upgraded a financial application on more than 100 desktops in several locations, including Mexico," said Joe Beery, chief information officer and vice president, America West Airlines.

"We were able to complete the upgrade overnight without an IT staff person on site. Without Altiris it would have taken at least six people several days with a great deal of travel to accomplish the installation."

The airline also remotely installed a new application for all of its maintenance facilities in several locations around the United States. The installation was completed in minutes using PC Transplant(TM) imaging technology (included in Deployment Server), which saved the time and expense of sending IT personnel to each location.
