SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. & BOISE, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan 18, 2002
Axon Technologies Corporation and Micron Technology (NYSE:MU) today announced that Micron has entered into a non-exclusive commercial license agreement for Axon's patented Programmable Metallization Cell (PMC) technology.
[pilcrow (paragraph sign)] This license allows Micron to use Axon's technology for development and manufacture of future integrated circuit devices.
"We are looking at the potential of PMC technology. Although the use of this technology in future products is as yet undefined, we find the technology interesting," said Dr. Terry Gilton, Micron R&D Manager overseeing Micron's PMC-related efforts.
Axon's patented PMC technology is based on an electrochemical effect in solid electrolytes. "PMC has unique low-voltage and low-energy operational characteristics and could be compatible with CMOS processes," said Dr. Michael Kozicki, Axon Technologies Corporation. "We are excited to have Micron investigating the use of PMC in a variety of integrated circuit devices."
