PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 21, 2002

Second Largest Spanish Wireline Operator Using acceSS7 to Manage

and Improve Network and Service Quality throughout Network

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced that Retevision is using the Agilent acceSS7 operations support system (OSS) solution to comprehensively monitor its SS7 network and services. acceSS7 provides Retevision with real-time intelligence on network, service and customer activity, enabling the company to increase customer satisfaction, maximize network efficiency and reduce revenue loss from fraud.

acceSS7 enables Retevision to monitor interconnect signaling links with other carriers' networks and generate call-detail records (CDRs) that provide detailed information on every call. Retevision has also deployed CDR agent/builder capabilities and custom software to correlate inbound and outbound CDRs. Network staff can use this data to troubleshoot specific calls, monitor network performance, and observe any unusual network activity as it happens to help identify fraud.

"We are focused on providing the best wireline solutions to our customers," said Fabio de Gaetano, responsible for network management systems at Retevision. "In order to deliver high-quality services and products, we need to monitor our network systems. The acceSS7 solution allows us to proactively monitor and manage network and services in real time. The combination of acceSS7 and knowledgeable Agilent technical experts provides a complete solution that helps us grow our customer base and increase revenues."

Agilent's consulting and project implementation experts were key to the fast and successful development and deployment of acceSS7, the CDR agent/builder and the custom software solution. A local team in Spain provided the service, consulting and support, while a software development team in Scotland developed the new solutions for Retevision.

Agilent acceSS7 is being used by over 110 of the world's leading service providers as a proactive monitoring system that highlights any degradation in network performance, enabling early resolution of problems before customer service is impacted. The solution has been operational in Spanish wireless and wireline networks for a number of years and supports a broad range of protocols, including many that are specific to Spain. More information about acceSS7 is available at www.access7.com.
