Procurement Express Streamlines Buying Process for Mid-Sized

Businesses and Helps Provide Short-Cycle Return-on-Investment

Commerce One (Nasdaq:CMRC) and Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:CPQ) today announced the availability of Procurement Express, a new solution combining Commerce One's industry leading e-procurement software together with industry-standard Compaq ProLiant servers and Compaq Global Services.

Procurement Express gives small to mid-sized enterprises (SME) access to the rapid return on investment available from Internet procurement by providing a pre-packaged, low cost of entry solution that can scale to meet organizational requirements.

"Through Compaq's strategic partnership with Commerce One, we are providing a world-class e-procurement solution that enables small to medium-sized companies to be up and running quickly with minimal investment," said Mark Linesch, vice president of Internet and eCommerce Solutions at Compaq. "The combination of Compaq ProLiant servers and Commerce One's procurement solution delivers all of the required elements for seamlessly completing B2B transactions with trading partners in a single package."

Procurement Express, which can be deployed in as few as 15 days, includes the hardware, software, services and content necessary for businesses to move their purchasing processes onto the Internet quickly and securely.

Procurement Express users gain access to e-commerce-ready suppliers and online business services in their region and worldwide through Commerce One e-marketplaces and access to the Global Trading Web(TM), a worldwide business commerce community.

The Procurement Express bundled solution is available immediately in select regions through a combination of Compaq Global Services and Commerce One e-marketplace partners.

"Mid-sized organizations want a low-risk procurement solution with all the infrastructure, online connectivity and company-wide control available to large enterprises," said Manoj Saxena, senior vice president of marketing and business development for Commerce One. "Commerce One, through our deep relationship with Compaq and our network of Global Trading Web partners, is uniquely positioned to deliver the same e-procurement benefits to small companies around the world that we have successfully delivered to the Global 2000."

Commerce One-powered e-marketplaces are already offering these solutions to their customers. For example, SESAMi, a Commerce One marketplace partner and Asia's leading business-to-business commerce service provider, is offering Procurement Express in Singapore and Indonesia. Some of the other marketplaces currently participating in the program include Optus in Australia and T-mart, the e-marketplace of Deutsche Telekom.

"Small and medium-sized businesses are a vital part of the commerce chain, and Procurement Express will enable SESAMi to develop a much larger trading community throughout Southeast Asia than previously possible," said Ms. Poh Mui Hoon, president, SESAMi, Inc. "With Procurement Express, the promise of B2B e-commerce and an increased competitive edge is now attainable for small to medium-sized, cost-conscious companies seeking improved productivity, reduced costs, connections to worldwide trading partners and improved service to employees, partners and customers."
