TBS Superstation Selects 28 Georgia Students for PSA Campaign Celebrating American Achievement

ATLANTA--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Jan. 25, 2002

TBS Superstation will begin its celebration of American achievement during Black History Month by highlighting 28 influential Americans with diverse cultural backgrounds.

The second annual Public Service Announcement (PSA) campaign, entitled GREAT AMERICAN MOMENTS, features students (ages 7-18) profiling such influential Americans as Gordon Parks, Helen Keller, Thurgood Marshall, Antonio Novello and John Glenn, Jr. The :30 PSAs, filmed yesterday (Thursday, Jan. 24) at Turner Studios, will air throughout 2002 locally on TBS17 and will be posted as streaming video clips online at TBS17.com.

The following students have been chosen as GREAT AMERICAN MOMENTS presenters, honoring American icons who have made significant contributions to the U.S. in the arts, technology, science and civil rights:

Ashley Hayes--Henry W. Grady High School, Fulton

Tahreem Rana--Hapeville Elementary School, Fulton
Kim Tran--Hapeville Elementary School, Fulton

These 28 presenters were chosen from more than 500 student auditions submitted by 123 Metro-Atlanta schools. Each presenting student's school received a $250 donation to be put toward educational programs and equipment.
