Integrates with Industry Leading Application Servers

Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE), the leader in network publishing, is now shipping Adobe(R) AlterCast(TM), its new dynamic imaging server software. Built on award-winning Adobe Photoshop(R) and Illustrator(R) technology, Adobe AlterCast automates time-intensive image production tasks, allowing businesses to dynamically update their Web sites with personalized graphics for more effective communication.

AlterCast enables companies that conduct a large portion of their business online to keep pace with accelerated Web publishing cycles. Designers can use AlterCast to customize images and automatically replace text within graphics, resulting in the ability to quickly create personalized e-commerce experiences based on individual consumer preferences.

With support for open standards and APIs, AlterCast runs on major application servers such as Oracle9i Application Server, BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, and iPlanet Application Server, and has attracted strong support from leading e-business and content management partners.

"The integration between Adobe AlterCast and Oracle9i Application Server allows businesses to develop and reliably support high-volume e-business applications with dynamic content such as personalization, commerce, and campaign management, which can change based on customer interests," said Thomas Kurian, vice president of development for Oracle9iAS at Oracle Corporation. "The combined power of AlterCast for dynamic imaging and Oracle9i Application Server -- the best, most complete Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) platform environment -- enables our customers to more readily build and deploy effective e-business applications, helping bring them closer to their customers."

"Our AlterCast solution automates the process of resizing and preparing news photos for publishing on our Web site," said Greg Anderson, senior systems analyst for The Seattle Times. "The feature-rich functionality of AlterCast allowed us to create a solution in less than one month. Better still, we have streamlined the process substantially and are leveraging the strong imaging capabilities of AlterCast to ensure that the news photos on our Web site are the highest possible quality."
