Ulead Systems, Inc., a leading developer of video editing, image editing and Web graphics software, today announced the availability of Ulead VideoStudio 6, a new version of their consumer video editor. VideoStudio 6 makes video editing easier and more intuitive to use for both new and hobbyist video editors with a completely new user interface. Ulead also packs the new version with advanced technologies usually found only in professional video editing suites.

During the video editing process, a variety of functions need to be visually available for efficient editing. The new VideoStudio 6 user interface makes intelligent use of valuable screen real estate to present all these video editing tasks logically and conveniently. An expandable, full-screen storyboard mode makes it easy to arrange long projects while full-screen previews give video producers an accurate view of how the final project will appear.

As a software development leader, Ulead has also added new video editing technology to VideoStudio 6. Powerful new InstaView technology takes advantage of the latest processor speeds and allows for real-time previews without requiring a timely render phase. VideoStudio 6 also saves time and hard disk space by featuring MPEG-Direct capture, which lets users grab DVD-ready video straight from a DV or D8 camcorder without converting it to an AVI file format first.

The variety of text effects has grown in the new versions as well with customizable motion title effects that let users make their text travel across the screen, a letter, word or line at a time. VideoStudio 6 even includes a Text Animation Library of drag-and-drop text pre-sets to make words fade, flop, zoom or whirl over videos.

VideoStudio 6 includes a DVD authoring wizard that will allow users to create DVD, VCD and SVCD videos from within Ulead's video editing program. VideoStudio 6 provides CD and DVD burner support as well -- without the need for additional software.

Ulead has shipped almost 7 million copies worldwide of VideoStudio since the product's introduction. In 2001, Ulead shipped almost 4 million copies of VideoStudio globally and was included with hardware offerings from a variety of hardware companies such as NEC Corporation, I-O Data and SANYO Electric Company.

Pricing and Availability

Ulead VideoStudio 6 is now available in retail and online stores for an estimated street price of $99.95 for boxed product and $89.95 for downloaded product. Previous VideoStudio users will be able to upgrade to VideoStudio 6 for $49.95 boxed product or $44.95 downloaded product.
