Partnership Between Con Edison and The College of New Rochelle Results in Executive-in-Residence Program

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 31, 2002

Archie M. Bankston, secretary and associate general counsel of Consolidated Edison, was named executive-in-residence at The College of New Rochelle, President Stephen J. Sweeny, Ph.D. announced today.

The newly created position of executive-in-residence is a pilot program resulting from a partnership between Con Edison and the College. The executive will be a special resource for students, faculty and staff, available for educational seminars and panels, selected classes, mentoring of students and for activities which will strengthen the relationship of business and civic leaders to the College.

Bankston earned his law degree and MBA from Washington University and a bachelor's degree from Fisk University. Prior to joining Con Edison, he had held legal and management positions with Xerox Corp., Pepsico Inc. and General Foods Corp.

Bankston is a trustee of the Hoff-Barthelson Music School and the Foundation of the Westchester Clubmen. He served on the board of directors of the American Society of Corporate Secretaries, Associated Black Charities, Beth Israel Medical Center, American Management Association and the Mental Health Association of Westchester County. He was also a member of the Westchester County African American Advisory Board.

He and his wife live in Westchester County.

The first Catholic college for women in New York State, The College of New Rochelle was founded in 1904 by the Ursuline Order. Today, it comprises the all-women School of Arts & Sciences, and three schools which admit women and men: the School of New Resources (for adult learners), the School of Nursing and the Graduate School.
